It is clear that the people in these areas are no longer living a normal life. For example, they cannot go to their farms, or to the markets or travel in safety, which means that agricultural and economic activities are crippled. In the past, it was the violence in southern Kaduna that bedevilled the state. Now it has been compounded by banditry. This development is as disheartening as it is surprising, because Kaduna is one state in the country that has the wherewithal to tackle security issues. It is home to the largest military formations – One Div, the Nigerian Army Depot, Jaji, NDA and the Nigeria Air Force Base. It is also the zonal headquarters of the police and the paramilitary organisations. Some of these agencies have been in Kaduna since the First Republic and they, therefore, know the terrain well.

While some of those who survived the clash said they were still waiting to be compensated, the Kaduna State government told
Daily Trust that it took over some properties around the scene of the carnage because of overriding public interest.
The government also said it has started implementing the recommendations of the judicial commission of inquiry it set up, including banning the IMN and compensating some of those deserving it.
However, most of the victims of the crisis said their details were only taken and nothing more.
Mohammed Inuwa Sheshi, 35, a tailor at Gyellesu settlement in Zaria, is one of the victims of the clash that took place in the ancient city in December 2015.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has said that all Army Recruits currently undergoing training at the Falgore forest in Kano state will be sent to Sambisa Forest at the end of their training.
This is just as he said the Nigerian Army will uphold thoroughness in its recruitment processes to ensure that only qualified persons are recruited henceforth.
