To The Reader’s Forum:
Although Tom Reed’s actions in the Nicolette Davis situation were certainly not right, his humble response was an example to us all.
Many other leaders have been accused of sexual harassment, but few have responded in as humble a manner as Tom did. By taking full responsibility for his actions and humbly apologizing to Ms. Davis, his own family, and the people he has served, Tom has set a commendable example of how any of us should respond when we have wronged anyone.
May we all learn the difficult and humble, but right lesson from Tom to take responsibility and humbly apologize when we have hurt another even if unintentionally.

Gaetz is reportedly under investigation by the Justice Department to determine whether he had sex with and trafficked a minor, an investigation stemming from the indictment of his friend, former Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg, who was indicted last summer on a trafficking charge, among others.
“The Committee is aware of public allegations that Representative Matt Gaetz may have engaged in sexual misconduct and/or illicit drug use, shared inappropriate images or videos on the House floor, misused state identification records, converted campaign funds to personal use, and/or accepted a bribe, improper gratuity, or impermissible gift, in violation of House Rules, laws, or other standards of conduct,” the committee said in a press release.

Reed last month was accused of sexual harassment by former lobbyist Nicolette Davis in an incident that occurred at a bar in 2017.
Reed initially indicated the report was false, but later apologized to Davis and announced he would not seek re-election in 2022 or run for governor. He also acknowledged he struggles with alcohol and had entered treatment later that year.
