Voters approve a $23.4 million Nicolet Union High School District operational referendum Alec Johnson, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Voters in the Nicolet Union High School District on Tuesday approved an operational referendum of $3.9 million over six years, according to unofficial results.
Voters approved the referendum with 3,608 votes (66.94%). There were 1,782 votes against the referendum.
The referendum, which totals $23.4 million, asks for an additional $3.9 million over six years starting in the 2022-23 school year and ending in the 2027-28 school year.
The district said the referendum will allow it to maintain and support educational programs, retain critical teaching staff and keep class sizes small. If the referendum had failed, the district said it would have had to make $3.4 million in cuts to balance the district s 2022-23 budget and make additional budget modifications in future years.
