Renville County Historical Society collects wedding dresses from across the decades

The Renville County Historical Society collected and displayed more than 150 years of bridal fashion in 2022. The dresses ranged from a black Victorian number from the 1880s to two dresses from 2020, illustrating how weddings were impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The dresses were exhibited during the Renville County Fair in August.

The Renville County Historical Society, established in 1940, has been collecting, cataloguing and sharing its county and cities' history for 80 years. It is a county rich with history, and the society's museum illustrates that with exhibits ranging from the area's geology, military history and the day-to-day lives of its residents both past and present.

I hope that the new administration can drive out the fear that seems to have crept into our daily lives and bring confidence and stability back to our nation. Our country and our citizens are better when we uplift each other. Leadership needs to set the tone and bring us together. Individually by listening to each other, having civil, respectful conversations and relying on facts not opinions we can start coming together. We probably will never agree on everything but we need to understand and respect that people see things differently. We all want what is best for our country; we just see different ways to get there.
