Bulletin Board: Franklin Tech baseball falls to Smith Academy, 4-1 Staff Reports Published: 5/31/2021 9:08:03 PM Sam Dobson got the win on the mound for the Falcons, striking out three batters as Smith Academy came away with a 4-1 win on the road against Franklin Tech in an independent baseball contest Monday in Turners Falls. Smith Academy put one run on the board in the first inning, added two more in the second and tacked on an insurance run in the fifth. Franklin Tech’s lone run came in the second inning, scored by Alex Sulda.  Michael Bassett had a hit and Ryan Belina went 2-for-3 in the win for the Falcons. Sulda had a pair of hits for the Eagles while Jake Whitney struck out two on the mound in the loss.

Restrictions are easing and more people are returning to eating out. For many Bleu Duck Kitchen customers, this was the first time they were able to dine out on Mother s Day in two years.  It feels wonderful, said Christine Burt who had brunch there with her family. It s a beautiful day, It s lovely to be out, and I feel like things are normal again. I just love it.

Bulletin Board: Turners Falls/FC Tech baseball and softball to tangle in primetime May 14 Staff Reports The battle for the Powertown will take place in primetime this spring. Turners Falls High School will host Franklin County Technical School in varsity baseball and softball on May 14 at the Bourdeau Fields Complex. Baseball will begin at 6 p.m. while softball is set for a 7 p.m. first pitch. In the bottom of the second inning in both varsity games, Turners Falls will “pass the hat” to collect money for the Food Bank of Western Mass. Fans are permitted to attend the games, but masks are required and they must be socially distanced from other families.
