Two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) and believed to be linked to the Nicky Gang organised crime syndicate, have filed a
habeas corpus application to seek for their immediate release.
The duo, aged 41 and 42, each filed the application through a notice of motion in the Kuala Lumpur High Court on May 5 through.

LUMPUR: A senior police officer detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma), for allegedly having connections with the organised crime group Nicky Gang, has been released on police bail yesterday.
The matter was informed by lawyer Gobind Singh Deo, who represented ASP Baldev Singh Gurdial Singh, 36, when contacted by reporters today.
Meanwhile, federal counsel, Muhammad Safuan Azhar, said that, following his release, Baldev Singh would withdraw his application for a writ of habeas corpus (unlawful detention) which he filed on April 30.
The matter was informed by lawyer Gobind Singh Deo, who represented ASP Baldev Singh Gurdial Singh, 36.
Meanwhile, federal counsel Muhammad Safuan Azhar said that following his release, Baldev would withdraw his application for a writ of habeas corpus (unlawful detention) which he filed on April 30. The court has set May 11 for further case management regarding the withdrawal of the habeas corpus application before High Court Judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan, he told reporters after case management before deputy registrar Catherine Nicholas Thursday.
Based on his supporting affidavit filed with the application, Baldev claimed that he was detained on April 26 here for investigation involving a criminal case under Section 130V (being a member of an organised criminal group) of the Penal Code, read together with Sosma.
KUALA LUMPUR: Only two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers are under police investigations for their alleged involvement in illegal activities linked to the Nicky Gang, says its Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki.
“As far as I know, only two officers are under police investigations and I leave it to them to carry out their investigations.
“I confirm that only these two officers are being investigated and no other officers are involved, ” he told reporters after launching a joint anti-corruption programme with the National Culture and Arts Department here on Tuesday (May 4).
He said that the two officers have not been suspended from their duties for now, adding that they will be suspended from duty if they are formally charged.

JOHOR BAHRU: Ten Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) officers suspected of being involved in organised crime activities masterminded by businessman Nicky Liow Soon Hee were detained in several states, as of Tuesday.
Johor police chief, Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said those picked up were aged between 35 and 49.
He said they were detained in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan, from April 21 until today under phase 2 of Ops Pelican 3.0.

‘’The arrests involved two officers, one with the rank of Superintendent stationed at Bukit Aman CID and an Inspector in Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS).
