Today Larian Studio provided a lot of information and gameplay of the upcoming update for Baldur’s Gate 3 via press release and a following livestream.
The game, which is currently in early access, will soon receive its Patch 4, titled “Nature’s Power.” At the moment it’s in QA, and doesn’t have a firm release date, but it should be around the corner.
On top of that, we learn that Larian opened two new studios in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Guildford in England.
Below you can check out the trailer, a lot of gameplay, a bunch of screenshots, and an extensive explanation of what’s coming in the patch via the press release.
Update: Out now! Updated on 26 February 2021
UPDATE 26TH FEB: Rejoice, for Patch 4: Nature s Power has landed! Cow about that? A full and detailed patch breakdown can be found on Steam.
ORIGINAL STORY 17TH FEB: The most important thing to understand is that you will be able to turn into a badger. Yes, the David Attenborough of Dungeons & Dragons classes, the druid, is on its way to the early access release of Baldur s Gate 3. When? Very soon, according to a press release. There s no specific date yet.
Besides a badger, the druid will be able to become a polar bear, a spider (probably bigger than a house spider), a raven, a cat, a dire wolf, and a curious-sounding aberrant shape . This is something triggered by embracing the Mindflayer tadpole you have shoved into your eye at the beginning of the game, apparently.
If You Want to Keep Your Old Files, Don’t Play on the New Version
Baldur’s Gate III is about to launch its fourth patch, which will almost certainly add a lot of new content to the game–but there’s a big shiny asterisk next to that update. Namely, that the patch is bringing so many changes to the game that it will remove your old save files. At least you can still play on the old version if you want to keep your data, but that means you can’t enjoy the new stuff Patch 4 will bring to the game. Whichever option you pick, you still lose. Talk about your sadistic choices.
