Our resident used boat expert Nick Burnham picks out for of the best boats for beginners from the likes of Regal, Beneteau, Channel Island and Karnic.
It’s March, the evenings are beginning to get a touch lighter, we might be through the worst of the cold and the rain, and spring is finally beginning to creep into view over the horizon. Which means only one thing. Boat season cometh!
And not having, or never having had, a boat shouldn’t be seen as an impediment because there are loads of great ways of getting on the water for the first time.

At the stern, the double sun pad with storage beneath appears to have a sliding backrest so that it can be used as a perch for observing swimmers or a full length sunlounger.
Forward, the steering wheel is mounted on the centreline giving the helmsman an excellent all-round view, made all the better by the thinner mullions than its predecessor.
Having three raised forward-facing seats at the helm is a welcome touch, though the navigator on the starboard side will be hemmed in by the other two occupants.
There are two twin diesel engine options, the largest good for just shy of 40 knots and a cruise in the region of 27.

Our resident used boat expert Nick Burnham picks out four used boats for sale for less than £80,000 from the likes of Fairline, Fairey, Trader and Carver.
It’s time for another price challenge! It’s always great to discover such a wide variation within a narrow price band by playing with the age and size and then tweaking it with more subjective matters like quality and desirability.

From The Tiger Who Came to Tea, to The Snail and the Wale, keepers at London Zoo are reading animal adventures to stay in touch with younger visitors while they are closed.
Every Saturday and Sunday until February 21, keepers at the Whipsnade and Regent s Park zoos will read a different story book from one of the animal enclosures and post it on Facebook.
The virtual bedtime stories are a way to bring the zoo to youngsters unable to visit in person and keep them in touch with the animals during lockdown.
