Galesburg Police, early Saturday afternoon, June 11th, responded to the 200 block of East Main Street for a two-vehicle accident. A Toyota minivan had struck a legally-parked Ram truck on the road. No one was injured. The truck's owner witnessed the crash from inside an adjacent business. The minivan's driver was identified as 37-year-old Nicholas Becker who had difficulty maintaining balance and appeared confused, according to police reports. Becker told police he drank a "shooter of 99 proof vodka" at Hi-Lo before driving. Becker showed numerous signs of impairment during a field sobriety test and he was arrested. According to police reports, while at the Public Safety Building, Becker made numerous odd statements and could not remain still. After officers requested a blood sample from Becker he told police "it's going to show meth." Becker was charged with DUI Drugs and Aggravated DUI - No Insurance. Galesburg Police on Saturday responded to the 1600 block of North Broad Street for a possible domestic disturbance. A male suspect, 37-year-old Nicholas Becker, was the subject of another investigation, and also police received calls to the residence earlier in the day regarding Becker. Upon arrival, officers could hear a woman screaming and kicked-in the front door. Inside they found a female victim laying on the floor with Becker standing over her, according to police reports. He was taken into custody. The victim told police she believed Becker was about to sexually assault her when officers first knocked and then held his hand over her mouth and held her down so she couldn't come to the door. Police believed Becker was under the influence at the time and he was also in possession of the victim's phone. Becker was taken to the Knox County Jail. A Knox County Sheriff's Deputy was treated and released on Friday, March 11th after getting struck by a fleeing vehicle. A high-speed pursuit on Friday that spilled into Warren County nearly came to an end when the suspect vehicle turned down a dead-end road. The suspect vehicle turned around and struck a sheriff's deputy that had exited his patrol vehicle. The suspect, 29-year old Alan Stanley of Keithsburg was taken into custody in Monmouth. Stanley is charged with Aggravated Fleeing, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, No Valid License, numerous other traffic charges, and pending charges for Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer. Stanley's arrest led to a search warrant being served at Paradise Acres in Lake Bracken. 37-year old Nicholas Becker was taken into custody during the search warrant. Becker was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Violation of the FOID Card Act, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Both men were taken to the Knox County Jail.
