Pier C. Rogers, PhD is the current President of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) and has been the Director of the Axelson Center for Nonprofit Management and Professor of Nonprofit Management at North Park University since 2007. Under her leadership, the Center has expanded programs, doubled sponsorships, broadened the network of professional faculty, and substantially increased the Center’s visibility and impact on the nonprofit professionals and organizations served. She recently led the Center’s 20th anniversary conference celebration, denoting 20 years of service to the Chicago area nonprofit community.

Staller Center’s Spring 2021 Film Series goes virtual on February 11, 2021. This year’s Film Series features 13 independent films you won’t see anywhere else and presents award-winning and record-breaking films from around the world. The Staller Center’s entire spring season will be virtual. The 2021 Film Series will be available for viewing from the comfort of your living room using the IndieFlix Festivals app. The full schedule is listed below.
Patrons and households can view all films with one $50 film pass. The series is 12 weeks long from February 11 through May 2 and will feature ten new premieres and three bonus films from previous Stony Brook Film Festival events. All movies will be available on-demand to watch and re-watch from Thursdays at 7 pm through Sundays at midnight. Single tickets are also available for purchase.

Queen Elizabeth II approved the award of Her Majesty’s Medal for Music for the year 2020 to
Thomas Trotter, fifteen years to the day since the first winner was honored at Buckingham Palace. Awarded every year to an outstanding individual or group of musicians, The Queen’s Medal for Music was first presented to Charles Mackerras on November 22, 2005, the feast day of St. Cecilia, patron saint of music.
Trotter, the sixteenth recipient of the award, has been the Birmingham City Organist since 1983 and is also a visiting fellow in organ studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. He has toured on four continents and is often invited to perform the dedicatory recital on new or restored organs, including at the Royal Albert Hall and St. David’s Hall in Cardiff. STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. About 30 members of the controversial Proud Boys group attended the rally in support of Mac’s Public House last week, the president of the New York City Chapter of the group told the Advance/SILive.com.
“We attended the protest in Staten Island uninvited by anyone there to stand in support and solidarity against the socialist, Marxist, and communist policies being enacted in NYC and throughout New York state in the name of ‘public safety’ by power-hungry elitists that fail to understand or comprehend the results of their own policies,” Randy Ireland said.
