Antisemitic incidents remain high during the coronavirus pandemic, report says

New Jersey saw its third-highest rate of antisemitic incidents in 2020, even as the coronavirus pandemic forced residents inside, the Anti-Defamation League said in its annual report.
A 2020 audit of incidents found that there were 295 incidents across the Garden State a decrease from the number in 2019, but still the third-highest rate on record, despite the pandemic.

“You would think that because we’ve been locked down, because people aren’t interacting to the same extent that’s putting it mildly that numbers would correspondingly go down a great extent. Yet, numbers are still at historic highs and ‘zoom-bombing’ does not explain all of it,” Scott Richman, the regional director for the New York and New Jersey Region of the ADL, told NJ Advance Media ahead of the audit’s release.

Under his leadership, the region exceeded its annual fundraising target by 21%.
