How much money is too much money is the question for anyone eying a new home or renovations to their current home. The crunch comes at a time when the number of homes for sale can’t come close to meeting demand.
South Jersey builder Michael Canuso, the current president of the New Jersey Builders Association, says lumber prices deserve all the attention they are getting. Inflation there is the worst among essential building commodities right now, he said.
“We’ve seen probably a 300 percent increase in some of the materials,” said Canuso, a third-generation builder. “The OSB boards, the plywoods, and the sheathing are ridiculously high.”
