reporter: in september of 2019, two colorado police officers pull into a parking lot of an idaho springs laundromat for a traffic stop after a car allegedly runs a stop sign. sit back in your car. reporter: body cam footage shows the driver, then 24-year-old brady mystic, out of his car. excuse me? who do you think you are? reporter: officers nicholas hanning and ellie summers slammed him to the ground. arms behind your back right now or i m going to tase you. tase him. reporter: in a statement, idaho springs police said that mystic resisted and assaulted an officer and that a physical altercation took place, adding that one of the officers was injured with a broken leg due to the resistive actions of mr. mystic. but there was a different reason for his confused behavior. mystic couldn t hear them. he s deaf in both ears, isn t able to lip read, and primarily uses american sign language to communicate. at the hospital, mistic explained his actions to officer
