Irvine unites against sectarianism ahead of Old Firm derby

Police and church leaders have joined with Irvine s Celtic Club and Orange Hall members to appeal for respect ahead of this weekend s Old Firm Derby. It s hoped residents can enjoy the game without hatred when Rangers and Celtic meet this Sunday - after recent fixtures led to anti-social behaviour, minor criminality, hate incidents and vandalism being reported across the area. We reported last month how vile vandals left disgusting anti-Rangers grafitti on Irvine s orange hall mocking victims of the Ibrox disaster, with sickening slogans such as 66 died and IRA  spraypainted on the building. Area Commander for North Ayrshire Chief Inspector Alan Paterson said: “We would appeal to all to behave responsibly.

North Ayrshire Ministers rejoice as congregations return for Easter

Rev Urquhart has been posting 60 second sermons on Instagram. CHURCHES in North Ayrshire are gearing up to welcome their congregations back this Easter Sunday. And one church has been active throughout, with Fullarton minister the Rev Neil Urquhart delivering 60 second sermons on Instagram and social media throughout the lockdown. Now he is preparing to return to the pulpit at the church which celebrates five years in its new purpose-built place of worship this month. And all being well, the busy ConneXions centre which runs a café and community groups is hoping to open up as soon as the restrictions are lifted.
