Work progressing on 400 home development at Longniddry

Work at the site – being marketed as ‘Longniddry Village’ – has been ongoing for more than a year. The East Coast Main Line railway is all that separates the new development from the existing Longniddry settlement. But the site of the new homes is actually where ‘old’ Longniddry once stood, hence its ‘Longniddry Village’ name. This week, ZeroC, part of Places for People, opened the doors to its new show home in the development. Longniddry Village is being developed in partnership with landowners Wemyss and March Estates. Work is continuing to develop new homes to the south of the railway line at Longniddry. Picture: Alan Rennie

Prestonpans barber shop wins shutter appeal | East Lothian Courier

Councillor Norman Hampshire, chairing the meeting, also lent his support to the appeal. He said: “I think in this location and on this occasion, we can allow the shutters to remain.” Mr Mulholland still has an appeal against planners’ decision to add the same condition to listed building consent for the shutters  lodged with Scottish Ministers. In a letter to the Scottish Government Reporter, overseeing that appeal, Brian Weddell, Prestonpans Community Council chairman, said that the group collectively supported the appeal. He said: “Given the business suffered damage due to vandalism and the advice of Police Scotland, Mr Mulholland has installed shutters that meet the criteria outlined by East Lothian Council and it is a travesty that this was rejected by the local authority’s planners.”

Seton Sands parking ban plan angers comunity council

PLANS to ban parking on a scenic coastal road have been condemned, amid claims the problem was created by the local authority itself. At a meeting of Cockenzie and Port Seton Community Council, chairperson Bryan Hickman hit out at proposals by East Lothian Council to put yellow lines on the outskirts of the community. And he said that problem parking on the coast road, near Seton Sands Holiday Village, had only become an issue after the local authority introduced charging at coastal car parks. He said: “The council have created the problem by charging, it was not a problem when the car parks were free.
