Though efforts to meet the Jefferson City area s housing needs were stalled last year, community leaders are looking to continue their efforts through different avenues moving forward.
Eight years ago, a plaque was fixed on Lafayette Street, recognizing a neighborhood where Black residents once lived and worked. Segregation had confined Jefferson City s marginalized community to what s known today as The Historic Foot during the 19th and 20th centuries.
