Ebenezer Bajela, Benin After 12 days of intense competition in 39 events, Delta State again emerged champions of the 20th National Sports Festival tagged Edo 2020 in Benin City, to extend their dominance at the event.
The sporting fiesta ended with a colourful closing ceremony that had live musical performances spiced with the relay finals at the spectators at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
However, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who was scheduled to declare the event closed, and sports minister, Sunday Dare, were notable absentees at the grand ceremony, which displayed the rich cultural heritage of the Edo people.

What would have been a national embarrassment with the threat of the Edo state government abruptly closing the ongoing 20th edition of the National Sports Festival, NSF on Thursday was averted as the state government and the federal government resolved the issue of finances which the federal government said was being processed.

In a bid to build the governance capacity of young minds in the country, the Ndigbo Youth Parliament, NYP has called on the federal government to consider reserving all Minister of State portfolios in the future for the youths.
Speaker of the parliament, Rt. Hon. Rikki Nwajiofor, stated this, Wednesday, in a live television programme, “The Roundtable, ” a production of Aso Television, Abuja.
During the live TV roundtable discussion, which focused on “promoting trust between government and the youth”, Hon. Nwajiofor called for a robust communication of government policies and programmes across all layers of government.
