With the growth of social media, there has been a blossoming of unreliable and false news on the internet. For authorities, regulating this has remained a challenge hard to understand, let alone tackle. Conspiracy theories, fake news and motivated disinformation campaigns run rampant on social media, and it is often difficult for unsuspecting users to tell what is true and what’s not.
The administration has brought under the ambit of cyber crime objectionable comments by individuals or organisations against the govt and its functionaries

Nitish Kumar, who has often displayed a short fuse when it comes to criticism on social media, has ordered action against offensive posts against his government in Bihar. Bihar s Economic Offences wing, the agency in charge of cybercrimes, has asked all state departments to report any defamatory, wrong posts against ministers, MPs, MLAs or officials.

Nitish Kumar who has often been seeing angry when it comes to criticism on social media has ordered action against against offensive posts against the state government in Bihar.
The state’s Economic Offences wing, which is responsible for cybercrimes has asked all sate department s to report any wrong or defamatory post against ministers, MPs, MLAs or officials, a report in NDTV said.
As soon as the matter came to light on Friday, opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav threw up a challenge to the Bihar CM calling him ‘Bhishma Pitamaha of corruption’.

Patna, Jan 22 : The Bihar government has directed the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) to act against those organisations and individuals posing objectionable contents on social media against public representatives and government officials.
The chief minister s office (CMO) has directed the EOW through a circular to closely monitor content on social media and act on the complaints lodged by public representatives and government officials.
The state government has acted on the letter sent by ADG EOW Nayyar Hasnain Khan to all secretaries and the CMO office. In the letter Khan said some individuals continuously post offensive and derogatory remarks against MLAs, MPs, MLCs, Ministers and government officials.
