Karachi: A group of 31 commandos belonging to the elite force of the Sindh Police has completed specialized anti-terror training imparted by the Pakistan Navy’s Special Services’ Group.
The batch of police commandos belong to the Special Security Unit (SSU) of the Sindh Police, which is primarily mandated to protect vital installations, high-profile persons, and perform anti-terror policing in the province.
The SSU was raised in the year 2010 with around 1,000 elite police personnel - now its strength stands at 3,000 including female police commandos. The SSU also introduced Pakistan’s first-ever SWAT (Specialised Weapons and Tactics) policing team.
The SSU also regularly conducts “Hostile environment awareness training sessions” at the Sindh Police Training Centre in Karachi to brief people belonging to various important sections of the society on security threats in their immediate environment and the basic tactics required to deal with such eventualities caused by the
