Shorefront residents in the Mashpee-Wakeby Pond area are hoping for a proactive approach this year to deal with proper upkeep of the pondâs three islands.
Cleveland, Keith and Jefferson Islands are three islands in Wakeby Pond that residents believe have been subject to mistreatment over the past several years. All three islands are an acre or less in size.
âThereâs trash being left out there, thereâs people partying out there. Thereâs people sleeping out there, cutting down the growth out there, all those types of things,â said Dave Sampson, a resident of Cove Road in Sandwich, which is adjacent to the pond, about the typical summertime behavior.
