Photo: Ilse Schoonraad GEORGE POLITICAL NEWS - Local social development activist, Hein Scheepers (29), has been selected as one of five youth ambassadors from the Western Cape to participate in the National Youth Resilience Initiative (NYRI) network. Nationally 350 applications were received. Scheepers, also the local spokesperson for the EFF, has a long track record in various NGOs, development activities and social and youth organisations. As a youth ambassador he will play a part in identifying and acting on the needs of the local youth community, amplifying their voices.

This is according to the Minister in the Presidency responsible for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, who says that this and other challenges that the youth face have psychosocial effects and affect their well-being. To deal with this challenge, the Department of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities will soon launch the National Youth Resilience Initiative, which will be rolled out across the country.
