Derrick ward is live near the scene now for the latest details. Derek derrick, good morning. Reporter yeah, you dont normally associate the suitland parkway with pedestrian traffic. This is the scene of a fatal incident. It remains closed. Suitland parkway is closed between alabama and branch avenue. It was about midnight when an adult male was crossing here at naylor road when he was hit background a car heading westbound, that is into the district. That person has since died. They dont have an identity yet. They have held the scene. Accident reconstruction crews are on the scene and traffic is shut down in both directions. Developing right now, two people are dead and another is recovering after their car ended up in the Potomac River. Reporter good morning. That recovery operation lasted well into the Early Morning hours. In fact, we were here at 3 15 this morning when that car was pulled from the Potomac River here by the tr bridge. My photographer was able to get that dramatic video as the car was lifted out of the river. This happened in the area of ohio drive next to the bridge not far from the kennedy center. A speeding car plunged into the potomac. One occupant was able to get free from the car, swim to shore. Two others were still to even locate the car last night, and thats when they found the tw
