PRCS elects new managing body

Islamabad: The new Managing Body of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) was unanimously elected at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held here at the National Headquarters on Wednesday.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon virtually attended the EGM as presidents of respective provincial branches of PRCS.
Dr Irshad Muhammad, Asif Bajwa, Syed Hashim A Hassan, Dr Parvez Ghaffar Rajwani, Brig (r) Abdul Hadi and Brig (r) Dr Mowadat Hussain Rana were elected unopposed as new members of the PRCS Managing Body through show of hands for a period of two years. Safety precautions in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic were strictly observed during the meeting, which was held in line with the provisions of the constitution of PRCS after necessary permissions from the President’s Secretariat and as per past precedence.

PRCS observes World Orphans Day

Islamabad : Children are very close to our heart. Let us join hands to show respect to orphan children and advocate their rights to eradicate discrimination and help them become valuable members of this society.
The Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Abrar-ul-Haq extended the above invitation at a ceremony organized to celebrate ‘World Orphans Week’ here at its National Headquarters on Friday, with the Turkish Ambassador’s wife Zlatomira Yurdakul as the chief guest and patron-in-chief of Pakistan Sweet Homes Zammurrud Khan as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Abrar said, “We have gathered here to make these orphan children realize that they are not alone and are in fact a very important part of our society.” He said taking care of orphan and helpless children is a collective responsibility. “Everyone of us has to play his part to make these children useful citizens of the society

Islamabad : The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, in collaboration with Jazz, distributed 250 non-perishable food packs among the families affected by COVID-19 pandemic during a ceremony held at PRCS National Headquarters on Wednesday here; another 150 food packs will be distributed among families in Haripur.
PRCS Chairman Abrar ul Haq, Acting Secretary General Dr. Adeel Nawaz, Vice President Corporate and Economic Affairs Jazz Ibrar Khan, as well as officers, staff, and volunteers of PRCS participated in the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Abrar ul Haq said PRCS has been at the forefront of fighting Coronavirus and augmenting the government’s response to the pandemic. PRCS established a 120-bed Corona Care Hospital in Rawalpindi within record 15 days where hundreds of patients have been treated. He hailed Jazz for playing a leading role in supporting the most vulnerable segments.
