Morning, everyone. The committee will come to order. Were here to examine the deferred maintenance needs of the public Land Management agencies. This is a topic i care about. I know each of you certainly, the folks on this committee, have expressed concern. Not just coming into this hearing today, but, really, over the years. When we consider deferred maintenance, we most commonly think of the 12 billion maintenance backlog accrued by the National Park service. We consider that here in the committee at great length and it rightfully continues to attract a great deal of national attention. But somehow and sometimes overlooked in this conversation are the deferred maintenance needs of the other federal Land Management agencies, including the Forest Service, the bureau of Land Management and fish and Wildlife Service. In San Francisco a man with a gun is dead this morning. He was shot by police just a poplar park. It happened after 7 00 last night in the Bernal Heights neighborhood. A minnesota called 911 and said there was a man on the trial with a gun. Man was not threatening anybody but he had his gun out when they encountered him. They shouted to the man to put the gun down and then there were several shots. This is a quiet area of the city. Its usual. Its not something to comes to mind to being a problem to the district. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are unclear. Authorities say they will hold a town hall meeting next week to explain what happened.
