The New England Patriots made a selection earlier than expected on Friday night, trading up to the 38th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft to select Alabama defensive lineman Christian Barmore.
Barmore, who was projected by many to be a first round draft pick, became the second player from the Crimson Tide to be drafted by the Patriots in this year’s draft, after New England took Alabama quarterback Mac Jones on Thursday with the 15th overall pick. At six-foot-five, 311 pounds, Barmore was the highest graded pass-rushing defensive tackle over the last two seasons, recording a 92.2 rating.
