Lukashenko hosts meeting on revival of Chernobyl-affected lands in Belarus south
BRAGIN, 26 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko hosted a meeting in Bragin on 26 April to discuss the revival of the Chernobyl-affected lands in the south of Belarus. Attending the meeting were the heads of the districts which lands are located within the boundaries of the affected areas, BelTA has learned.
The meeting focused on the efficient usage of the lands of the Polesie state radiation and ecology reserve and its surroundings. This matter was raised by the president during his visit to Narovlya District on 24 April. “We have to work out, as I understand, the final program for the revival of these lands, the program on the mitigation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident. Why is there such a need and even an opportunity right now? We have lived 35 years after the Chernobyl accident and we have understood the way we have to go and restore life,” the president said

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted: “We talked about concrete things. We should use manufacturing cooperation in order to revitalize many enterprises. It is what integration is all about: get down to earth and do what we extremely need today. Nobody will ever support us. The present reality testifies to that: Russia faces sanctions and so do we. It is only the beginning. They are going to choke us a lot.”

A week ago, during the nationwide subbotnik day, Aleksandr Lukashenko announced the signing of an important decree. According to him, this document is to be one of the most important decisions of his presidency. The head of state did not disclose any further details then, and different “experts” began developing various conspiracy theories: “Lukashenko will give Belarus away to Russia”, “A Russian military base will be placed in Belarus” and so on and so forth.
Lukashenko reveals details of conspirators plan to stage coup in Belarus
NAROVLYA DISTRICT, 26 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko revealed details of the conspirators plan to stage a coup in Belarus as he talked to journalists during his trip to the Polesye State Radiation and Environmental Reserve on 24 April, BelTA has learned.
According to the head of state, the conspirators had several scenarios. Initially, they planned to eliminate the president at the 9 May parade. However, it is difficult to imagine how this plan could be implemented in Belarus, so they abandoned the initial idea.
Then they considered attacking the presidential motorcade. For that they even purchased grenade launchers and brought them to Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko said. However, such a scenario was difficult to realize too: for safety reasons the motorcade moves at a high speed, and the probability of hitting it is very small.
