The Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC) has elected its incoming Board of Directors for 2021, which also serves as the Board of Sustainable Furnishings Education Fund, the nonprofit organization’s 501(c)(3).
The Sustainable Furnishings Council is a member-based organization committed to improving sustainability in the furnishings industry throughout North America.
Ongoing initiatives for the SFC include certified sustainability training, monthly educational events, a transparent communications program called ‘What’s it made of?’, the annual Wood Furniture Scorecard recognizing top performing retailers, consumer and student resources, and a refreshed SFC Ambassadors program. The SFC board members provide governance and guidance in pursuit of these and other initiatives.

The Bienenstock Furniture Library announces updates to its board of directors effective this month, according to Executive Director Karla Jones. Among its ongoing initiatives as a furniture and design industry resource, the board will serve to support the library’s inaugural Student Design Summit this fall.
Christi Spangle, co-ceo at High Point-based interior design firm Barbour Spangle Design, assumes the role of board President for a two-year term beginning in 2021. She served as a board member since 2013.

WithIt, the women’s leadership development network for the home and furnishings industry, announces the recipients of the 2020 WOW Awards.
WithIt is proud of this year’s distinguished nominees. The annual WOW Awards honor the achievements of home furnishings professionals that embody the organization s mission.
