MUMBAI: Amid a shortage of oxygen cylinders, 11 Covid-19 deaths were reported in two private hospitals in Nalasopara in the Vasai taluka of Palghar district on Monday.
While families of relatives blamed the lack of oxygen cylinders for the deaths, Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) officials said all deaths were not due to oxygen shortage. The patients were critical when admitted to the hospitals, the officials said.
While seven Covid-19 deaths were reported from the Vinayak hospital, four patients died at the Riddhi Vinayak hospital.
Both the hospitals are treating Covid patients.
Though the oxygen shortage begun since Friday, it got severe on Monday with families running around for oxygen cylinders.
