LDA seeks planning for 221 homes on former Army barracks site in Naas Agency submits application under under fast-track Strategic Housing Development legislation

The application was made under the fast-track Strategic Housing Development (SHD) legislation, brought in by the Government in 2017 to expedite developments of 100 or more units.
The project will comprise social and affordable homes, to be provided by way of the Government’s upcoming affordable homes scheme.
“The Devoy site represents a prime opportunity for current and future residents of Naas and surrounding areas to realise their goal of living in an affordable home,” John Coleman, LDA chief executive, said.

Eight people, including a juvenile, have been released following their arrest in connection with the murder of a man in Kildare in January.
Gardaí believe the victim, Mark Loughlin (29), was fatally assaulted after being involved in a traffic collision on January 3rd, 2021.
During a large-scale operation on Wednesday, gardaí from the Kildare and Laois/Offaly Divisions, led by investigators from Naas, carried out a number of searches and arrested six men, one woman and one male juvenile in relation to Mr Loughlin’s murder and other offences.
