Remembering nights spent with Larry King

Though I grew up in the television era, I was always fascinated by the radio. Getting ready for school in the morning meant listening to the Top 40 on WABC. After dinner (and homework), I  discovered a radio station that played “old time” radio shows like “The Shadow” and “Fibber McGee and Molly.” I remember lying on my bed with the lights out listening to the magical images created in my mind by the stars of each episode. For years, the sound of people talking on the radio helped me fall asleep, even if it was an all-news station. The voices were smooth and somehow allowed me relax if I didn’t listen too closely to what they were saying.
