Pleasant man apparently suffered a “medical event” as he was exiting Toll Route 66 in Hempfield Tuesday and crashed into a toll booth, state police said. Kenneth G. Hamlin, 65, was airlifted to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland with serious injuries after the 6:35 p.m. crash at the exit at Route 136, according to state police at New Stanton. Trooper Daniel Fagan reported that Hamlin was exiting the highway “when he appeared to lose consciousness due to a medical condition upon approaching a toll booth.”
