Heading into the Hebrew Calendarâs Year 5782, Chabad of the South Hills in Mt. Lebanon is ready to offer a weekly learning opportunity for youngsters.
âThis program was surprisingly born during COVID,â Chabad event coordinator Mussie Rosenblum said. âThat was really a testament to the parents. I was so impressed that, with everything that everyoneâs been through, they were insistent that their children still need Jewish education.â

As a result, a series of in-person sessions was launched in January, following all the safety protocols in place at the time.
And the youngsters enjoyed it, too.
On Thursday at sunset, the parking lot at Dormont Pool started to fill with vehicles full of folks who were able to enjoy the nightâs program while staying as safe as possible.
Thanks to an FM transmitter, guests were able to tune in on their radios as Rabbi Chaim Itkin of Yeshiva School and Lubatich Center of Pittsburgh led a round of Chanukah trivia prior to the main event, the lighting of the Menorah. Afterward, everyone watched the big screen that was set up in the lot for a multimedia presentation of the story of the Jewish Festival of Lights.
