Herdsmen/Farmers crisis: We will plan operations to vacate criminals from forests

By Deborah Coker Benin, Feb. 9, 2021 The Edo Government on Tuesday said it would plan operations with security agencies in the state to dislodge criminals causing crisis in the state from forests within the state. Gov. Godwin Obaseki, said this at Odighi in Ovia North East Local Government Area, when he led heads of security agencies in the state on a fact finding mission over the incessant herders/farmers conflicts in the locality. Obaseki said that the genuine herders who had lived peacefully within the locality were not the problem, but rather the criminal elements who had gone beyond the area allocated for grazing.

The Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Musa Sadiq, made the pledge on Friday in Benin, when he received Mrs Ebun Likinyon, the new State Director of the Service, during her courtesy visit to his office. x Sadiq also gave assurance that the Brigade would continue to collaborate with other sister security agencies in the state so as to record more successes in internal security operations. He noted that the role of the DSS was important in achieving successful operation considering its vital role in information and intelligence gathering.
