(MURFREESBORO) Two long-term employees of Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department retired on Monday (7/3/2023). Steve Toombs ended his career after 42-years, and Melinda Tate retires after a dozen. Her family also created the popular Middle Half Marathon that did its swan song June 12, 2022.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The City of Murfreesboro’s “Celebration Under the Stars,” presented by Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE), will be held Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the Fountains at Gateway, 1500 Medical Center Parkway. Live music featuring country artist Canaan Smith will begin at 7:30 p.m. from the Fountains stage, and the fireworks show will start at approximately 9:00 p.m.
