(Murfreesboro, TN)- Cason Lane Academy, a Murfreesboro City School, was named a Tennessee Designated STEM School by the Tennessee Department of Education in partnership with the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network. Cason Lane Academy was one of only six elementary schools in the state to receive this designation in 2021. The Tennessee STEM School Designation denotes that a school meets the highest standards of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) instruction and is a model for schools across the state.

(Murfreesboro, TN) Dr. Trey Duke is proud to welcome Ynetia Avant Campbell back to Murfreesboro City Schools as Principal of Northfield Elementary.
Campbell joins Northfield with ten years of experience as a principal and assistant principal and 12 years of experience in the classroom where she was named Teacher of the Year and MEA Distinguished Educator. Over her tenure, she has participated in many community and leadership opportunities including the MCS Leadership Academy and the Chamber of Commerce Inaugural Amazing Shake Committee.

The Murfreesboro City Council approved a construction contract to begin work on the Mercury Boulevard Sidewalk Project and agreed to match funds for the Discovery Schoolâs asphalt track.
City Engineer Chris Griffith presented the updates on bids, engineering services and construction materials for the sidewalk project at last Thursdayâs meeting.
The low bidder for the project is Charles Deweese Construction of Franklin, Ky., for $1,100,292, according to Griffith. TDOT also awarded some money, which city engineers estimate to be just over $1.3 million.
âThe city has been obligated a total of $1,144,898 in federal grants, which weâre participating in a 20 percent match,â said Griffith, âThe local city match is $286,224.â
