The town of Cochrane has completed one of the largest infrastructure projects in its history to address a traffic bottleneck in the eastern part of the community. A celebration event on Friday marked the end of construction, which saw a two-lane, two-kilometre stretch of Highway 1A east of Centre Avenue to west of Fifth Avenue widened into a four-lane interchange.
Several dozen apartment units in two new supportive housing complexes remain vacant, while a local housing agency figures out how to run them without extra funds.

Ground has officially broken on the 40
th Ave. partial interchange in Airdrie after a ceremony including City council, administration and MLAs Angela Pitt and Ric McIver commemorated the start of development on Wednesday, Apr. 28.
The $83-million project will see a new overpass and three new bridges on the south end of Airdrie, crossing over Main Street, the CP Rail, Nose Creek and the QEII Highway, and connecting 40
th Ave. to Sharp Hill Way SE.
