REGGI rebates passed along to Wolfeboro MED customers
April 01, 2021WOLFEBORO Wolfeboro Municipal Electric customers will see a slight reduction in their electric bills for three months commencing in April. Barry Muccio, Director of Opertions for the Municipal Electric Department received approval from the Board of Selectmen n March 3 for distribution of a little over $100,000 in RGGI rebate dollars from the last quarter to customers through a .0064 cent reduction per kilowatt hour. That could amount to about $5 per customer. RGGI ( Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative) is a program that limits carbon emissions from power plants, with a trading market for allowances to exceed those limits. (Fossil fuel burning power plants must purchase allowances for every ton of carbon dioxide they emit.) States can split revenues between customer rebates and clean energy programs.

Mansfield Municipal Electric Department recently announced that the publicly-owned utility is participating in a new solar project to be built in Ludlow.
MMED will purchase approximately 0.5 megawatt from the 7 megawatt project being constructed on the property of MMED’s joint action agency, the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company. MMED is one of six municipal utility members of MMWEC participating in the project. The others are located in Boylston, Ipswich, Marblehead, Peabody and Wakefield.
The ground-mounted solar project will be built on a 30-acre section of MMWEC’s 200-acre property in Ludlow. The site is well suited for solar. After receiving responses to its request for proposals, MMWEC is working with EDF Renewables Distributed Solutions Inc., as the project developer. MMAS, Rose Garden Coffeehouse to host livestream concert
Mass Music and Arts Society, in collaboration with Rose Garden Coffeehouse, will host a live-streamed show featuring Crowes Pasture and Doug Farrell at 7 p.m. Feb. 20.
Crowes Pasture, the guitar-banjo duo of Andy Rogovin and Monique Byrne, will split the bill with singer-songwriter Doug Farrell, the winner of the Rose Garden Coffeehouse’s Performing Songwriter Competition in 2020.
The show will be live, but no audience will be present. The only people involved will be a socially distanced and masked production crew. A barrier will separate performers. The performance will be streamed live on ShowTix4U.

Sen. Paul R. Feeney to meet with constituents over Zoom
Sen. Paul R. Feeney, D-Bristol and Norfolk, and his staff will be available to meet with constituents over Zoom during November s district office hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 15 and 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 18.
