Hi-tech hard hats use ski safety system to protect site workers from glancing blows
Protection against head rotation will reduce injuries, manufacturer says
Specialist PPE firm Centurion Safety Products is to integrate sports helmet technology into construction hard hats for the first time. The Nexus range of hard hats will feature the patented Multi-directional Impact Protection System from Swedish helmet safety technology company Mips. THe system is claimed to protect workers from hitting their heads at an angle. The new Nexus will be the first hard hat in the world to feature the new Mips ‘cradle’ rotational impact protection system, which is used in skiing and cycling to reduce the rotational motion that is transferred to the head from certain oblique impacts .
