What Defines Electoral Mandate In Tamil Nadu? - Prof K Nageshwar

What Defines Electoral Mandate In Tamil Nadu? – Prof K Nageshwar Published by GulteDesk April 06, 2021 Indian democracy is unique for its diversity in many ways. There is no common political theme or electoral issue that wholly influences the mandate of the people. A combination of factors with relatively different degree of weightage to each, determine the electoral outcome. Of course, the performance of the incumbent government is certainly under scrutiny, besides a host of factors like social engineering, alliance arithmetic, emotive issues pushing through the campaign, etc. contribute significantly to the election mandate. Internal bickerings, corruption charges, lack of cohesive leadership haunt the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu. The NDA comprising of ADMK, PMK, and BJP has to tide over the anti-incumbency with DMK led opposition strongly placed in the electoral battle.

Vested political interests trying to misguide farmers: PM Narendra Modi

Express News Service LUCKNOW: In yet another bid to reach out to the protesting farmers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to convince them of the virtues of the three new farm laws, saying the intent of the reforms was to help and empower the small and marginal farmers. He was addressing a gathering through a video link while laying the foundation stone for the memorial statue of warrior tribal king Maharaja Suheldev on his birth anniversary in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday.  The PM reiterated that forces with vested political interests were trying to misguide the farmers. “Those who have grabbed vast expanses of farmers’ land do not want to see them flourish and earn more,” he said.
