They have announced a new YAF Winter Challenge, which is a free program aimed at helping area kids stay active despite the continuing uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
Through a partnership with UMD, St. Scholastica, and UW-Superior, the
YAF Winter Challenge will issue Challenge Cards that list various indoor and outdoor activities for area children to complete. Each college will be featured for a different two-week period between mid-January and late-February, each with a unique mix of “challenges” for participants. One of the great things about this program is it’s entirely tailored to the individual,” Program Director Alivia Nelson said. “These activities are meant to be accessible to everyone, but they can easily be modified and have no minimum time, distance, or quantity attached. Quite simply, we just want to encourage kids to move their bodies and be active, in really whatever way they think is best for them.”
