Police are investigating a shooting in Fort Myers after finding a man dead of a gunshot wound in his car Tuesday morning.
Detectives with the Fort Myers Police Department are searching between Royal Palm and Central avenues, north of Franklin Street and south of Edison Avenue, after receiving a shot spotter alert near the intersection of Royal Palm and Franklin. They located a man who had died of a gunshot wound inside a car around 12:34 a.m.
The victim has been identified by FMPD as Montrell O’Neal, 21, of Fort Myers. He was the brother of Demetrius O’Neal, a suspect in the 2016 Club Blu shooting, according to a 2020 arrest affidavit. That same document lists both brothers as members of the “1Way” gang.
