MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - An additional 1,500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered in Montgomery Friday on the final day of the cityâs week-long drive-up vaccination clinic.
Thousands of essential workers from across Alabama came to Montgomery this week for the opportunity to get their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
âIt definitely puts my mind at ease, because for the past few months youâre somewhat, at least I have been, terrified to go to work,â said Yovodka Davidson, a teacher for Montgomery Public Schools who received her first shot.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - An apartment fire in Montgomery Friday night is under investigation.
According to Montgomery Fire/Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Stanley Cooper, around 9:21 p.m., firefighters responded to the fire in the 5700 block of Calmar Drive.
When firefighters arrived, they found a downstairs unit in the two-story apartment with smoke, Stanley said. Occupants were evacuated from the building. Some of the occupants were outside before firefighters arrived.
Stanley said the fire was contained to the duct work in the room the fire started. The unit endured “moderate smoke and fire damage.”
