The story, penned by
Kornelija Naraks, is set in 1906 and centres on Hanna Leitner (
Maresi Riegner), a young mother who longs for nothing more than to break free from her role of middle-class mum and society’s strictures. She abandons her family and flees to the sanatorium at Monte Verità. There, in the idyllic countryside of southern Switzerland and in the passionate pursuit of her art, Hanna soon has to face up to making a decision that is tearing her apart: can she go back to her family without surrendering herself?
