and now a big part of our life. reporter: the high wrai patrol says rain is a factor and hundreds of accidents. at least two people have been killed. virtually the entire state of california is affected by wild weather. monday thousands were asked to evacuate to higher ground. more than a dozen homes were destroyed. it has gotten to the point where almost we can t get in and out any more. reporter: across the west in colorado, wind gusts topped 80 miles per hour and in the rockies, whiteout conditions. so, you were not prepared? not at all. reporter: back in california, a 40-year snowfall record was shattered. ten feet of snow in just four days. but in the l.a. foot hills, the worry is mud and a forecast that calls for more rain. as the search for those missing hikers continues in orange county. the forecast is certainly not going to help.
