NSW recorded another 98 cases on Monday – 20 of these were infectious in the community, 54 were in isolation while infectious, and 17 were in isolation for part of their infectious period. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said more than two-thirds of the new cases were from the southwest Sydney area. She reminded everyone they were trying to “nudge” down the number of infectious cases in the community. “Please remember, that 20 number [infectious in the community] is the number we are really keen to nudge,” she said at Monday’s press conference.

The Elizabeth Vale School says it has been informed that a member of its community may have come in contact with someone diagnosed with the virus.
It says it will remain closed to allow SA Health to establish if there is any risk to the community.
At the same time there have been reports today that a patient at Modbury Hospital has returned a positive test, though it may be the result of virus shedding from an old infection.

An 81-year-old Adelaide man has sparked the city s first Covid scare in months after testing positive following a trip to Argentina with his daughter.
He turned up at South Australia s Modbury Hospital over the weekend with virus symptoms, despite quarantining in NSW for 14 days on his return to Australia.
The elderly man also spent a further 10 days in a NSW hospital after injuring himself in a fall while in quarantine before returning to SA on July 8.
The Adelaide hospital s emergency unit has now been closed and put into lockdown while deep cleaning takes place.
The man s daughter - who was with her father on the Argentina trip - and his grandson are also now in quarantine but have tested negative.
