Itasca County Commissioner and MHB board member Cory Smith testified before the federal lands subcommittee to discuss a land exchange between the Chippewa National Forest (CNF) and Bowen Lodge Resort.
Bowen Lodge would like to exchange about 35 acres of land that they own located on Lake Winnibigoshish for approximately 10 acres owned by the Chippewa National Forest located off the lake.
In the summer of 2023, DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen requested help from the Mississippi Headwaters Board to provide local input on DNR boat landings that need rehabilitiation.
