Bengaluru: Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka on Wednesday indicated that the state may go for unlocking in four to five phases after June 14, as the COVID-19 induced lockdown comes to an end. Keeping the number of deaths and new cases in mind and aimed at bringing down the COVID infections further, lockdown will not be relaxed at one go.
Funds Meant For Hindu Temples In Karnataka Will No Longer Be Spent On Other Religious Institutions

Karnataka government has ordered that the funds of the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions And Charitable Endowments (HRCE) Department also known as Muzrai department be no longer used to fund any non-Hindu religious institutions.
In response to the recent outrage by various Hindu groups and leaders against the distribution of tastik money from the HRCE to priests and staff of other religious institutions, Minister for Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary directed that all such acts of financial support from the department be halted with immediate effect.

Karnataka has extended the ongoing lockdown for a week from June 7 to June 14 to contain the COVID-19 spread. We had earlier announced stringent restrictions from May 24 to June 7 to contain the spread of Coronavirus. Though the infections have reduced, the spread of the disease is still on. It has been decided to extend the restrictions by a week following the recommendation of experts till June 14 morning, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa told a press conference.
The curbs are in effect since April 27 but from May 10, the Chief Minister announced a shutdown till May 24 morning.
