Police search for 20 absconding Covid patients who attended Mahakumbh
The absconders had visited the Kumbh from different parts of the country and were admitted to the hospital after testing positive.

DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand state police on Sunday registered case against 20 Covid-19 positive patients who absconded from a hospital in Muni Ki Reti area in Tehri district.
Sanjay Gunjyal, inspector general of police said, Cases have been registered against 20 people who ran away for flouting norms and endangering the lives of other people. Teams have been formed to look for them. We have also alerted Rajasthan government to where these people belonged.
A seer has died from COVID-19 and 80 other holy men have tested positive after attending a vast religious festival where millions of pilgrims have been ignoring Covid-19 advice despite a national surge in infections.
Uttarakhand Director-General of Police on Friday stated that those who are coming to the state but are not visiting Kumbh needs to go to Dehradun, Garhwal, or Kumaon Mandal, from April 9 to 15 - which are the important days for Shahi Snan . The DGP, Ashok Kumar said that during the time, whoever does not have to come for Kumbh Snan and needs to go to Dehradun, Garhwal, or Kumaon Mandal should avoid the Haridwar route in view of the Somati Amavasya on April 12 and on other important days. People who are coming to the State but not visiting Kumbh, we request them to avoid the Haridwar route. We have uploaded all route-related information on Uttarakhand Police s social media pages, said DGP.

He inaugurated the Command and Control Room and Adarsh Barrack of the Police Surveillance System built for the Kumbh Mela, at the CCR Tower in Haridwar.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the state government is fully committed to the modernization of the police.
He said, Our government is determined to conduct HaridwarKumbh Mela safely. 310 CCTV cameras have been installed in the area. Command and Control Room of Police Surveillance System has been set up at CCR Tower, Haridwar. (ANI)
