Iraq asks UNSC for support in holding legislative elections

Iraq s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent a letter to the United Nations Security Council requesting support in holding legislative elections scheduled later this year. Iraq has sent a message to the Security Council asking for its support and to send observers to hold the elections on time, the ministry said in a statement.
Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein received a phone call from the Foreign Minister of Belgium, Sophie Wilmès, the statement added. The officials discussed the need to strengthen bilateral relations and the Iraqi government s decision to hold free and fair legislative elections.
