Hilcorp Alaska started operating in Cook Inlet in 2012, after acquisitions in 2011, and moved onto the North Slope in 2014, acquiring BP Exploration (Alaska)
After a lull of a couple of years as a consequence of the COVID pandemic, oilfield development drilling on the North Slope and in the Cook Inlet region picked up significantly in 2022, according to data available on the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission website.

The Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission has received applications from Hilcorp Alaska, operator and working interest owner at the Milne Point unit, to expand the area of the Kuparuk oil pool at the field to include an additional lease to the north of the existing pool, with the change propose.
Hilcorp Alaska has told the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission that it intends to increase use of jet pumps at Milne Point and in response the commission held a hearing in May and on Aug. 23 issued a conservation order dealing with jet pumps at Milne Point and adjacent areas.
